Can't help but wonder how this fits with Historic Preservation."

Don't like this at all....who will provide maintenance when someone runs over a pole? who will clean the corners of the streets now that a street sweeper can't do it? The paint will wear off quickly...look at the green bike lanes around the city.
Why wasn't the entire neighborhood informed of these plans?

The paint won't last but it is a nice way to make people notice the arrival of the barriers. Our crosswalks have been unsafe. It this makes drivers pay a bit more attention, this is a good thing. Of course, they'll have to look up from their cell phones to see the posts.

Made a right turn from southbound 1st to westbound U this afternoon. Almost got hit head on by a vehicle on U heading eastbound who decided driving down the middle of the road was the best way to avoid the plastic poles.
