am i the only one who thinks that asking price is insane?
My buddy who lives on 3rd St said this house was just purchased a few months back in the 700 - 800k range. I don't see anything to back that up on the DC property tax database though. It doesn't look like any improvements were made either. The 1.4 mill asking price IS ridiculous. Does anyone have the details on the last transaction?
$1.4 MILLION?!?! Even on three lots, that's crazy. Sounds a lot like the little boarded-up dump down near me in Truxton Circle that is trying to go for over $500,000...
Yeesh.
It's insane!
Here is the info re: the sale a few months back - it's public record at dc.gov (under property sales database):
Sale Price: $650,000
Sale Date: 02/08/2007
Purchaser:
1859 THIRD STREET LLC
1725 DESALES ST NW STE 401; WASHINGTON DC 20036-4426
Quite a price increase! More than two-fold...
Yeah this is absolutely insane. We live across the street from this place and it went up for sale shortly after we moved into our apartment. I was curious so I went to check our the isting price and about DIED when I saw 1.4 million. I love my neighborhood, but it's not like this is a freestanding mansion in Dupont. Besides that, its in horrible shape despite its renovation potential. I think this is a perfect example of American Greed at it's finest. Obviously the seller has not been paying attention to the housing market the past 2 years... Unbeievable
