see a street map of Bloomingdale (and all of DC) from 1898

Today's Greater Greater Washington blog provides a map "here's where the cleaned the streets in 1898".

Note that the Moore addition (north-south strip between 1st and 2nd Street NW in Bloomingdale) had not yet been developed.

And notice the public dump south of the reservoir, sort of near the intersection of 2nd and Bryant Street NW.
