On the first anniversary of their son’s killing, Seth
Rich’s parents called on the public to “cease using Seth as a political
football in predetermined partisan narratives.”
In a statement, the family said it recognized the
“futility of the request,” but said the false information surrounding the July
2016 murder and subsequent harassment of their family and friends “does nothing
to bring justice to his killers.”
Rich, a Nebraska native, was shot July 10, 2016, in
Northwest Washington’s Bloomingdale neighborhood. D.C. police have repeatedly
said they think Rich was killed in a random robbery attempt, but several
conspiracy theories have emerged about his death. No arrests have been made.
