Peach or Blue Berry Pie,  at Whisked.   Corn, Cheddar and Jalapeno Quiche.  Roasted Tomato and Goat Cheese quiche

REID:  Sweet cherries, sour cherries, red and black raspberries, gooseberries, currants, white and yellow peaches, \ blueberries and apricots.
lodi apples, the first of the summer apples and famous for the clear applesauce it makes.  Get those Pie cherries now.  The season is ending.

DOLCEZZA: summer fruits, summer herbs, Pennsylvania cream. The first Pennsylvania yellow peaches from Toigo and Robb roasts them in the oven before he mixes them with his Perrydell cream. The summer flavors: peaches, opal basil, blueberries, blackberies, lemon-thyme, persian cukes....

KESWICK CREAMERY:  Feta and cucumbers and tomatoes for the perfect Greek Salad. Dragonsbreath for hamburgers. Yogurt for all those Reid berries and peaches and tzatziki and cucumber soup.  Have you tried the new mixed milk camembert? 15 different cheeses to sample at the stand.

MOUNTAIN VIEW:    Fennel, chard and last of kale and collards, beets: golden and Mangolds. Bugs Bunny’s dream carrots, new potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash, spring onions, rosemary, sweet marjoram, basil, lavender.

TIP: Let me sing Fennel’s praises.  It is a little like an anise flavored celery but much more interesting and useful.  I like it grated raw into a slaw with carrots, or sliced thin, salting it and dressing it with a good olive oil, Nicoise olives and peels of Parmesan.  Cooked, it changes character altogether.  Saute slices in olive oil and garlic and sprinkle chopped parsley and fennel fronts over it. Braise it in butter and white wine and top with parmesan  or roast it and it melts into a voluptuous sweetness you would not have expected. Fish dishes LOVE it.  Fennel and Fish is a classic Provencale dish.  And tomatoes makes a good marriage too (cooked or in a summer salad)

TRUCK PATCH:  Raspberries, tomatoes, okra, green and wax beans, green and yellow squash, squash blossoms, radishes, arugula, mesculin, baby spinach, kale, collards, swiss chard, beets, eggplant, 3 varieties of cucumbers, and white onions.

I have really fallen for the Costata Romanesco zucchini.  It is a traditional Roman heirloom variety and unlike many summer squash, it has lots of flavor and Design Attitude.  Those ridged sides have a purpose:  sliced, they create GREEN SPROCKETS.   .    But Bryan has the new Magdas this week as well and he likes their nutty flavor a lot.   Other heirlooms are the bicolor Zephyr (yellow and light green) and the flying saucers.

Truck Patch Meats:  Chicken this week, Turkey parts.   Heirloom Pastured Pork Varieties:  St Louis ribs still lead the grill parade for me ,pork chops. Smoked bacon, smoked nitrate free bacon, pork chops, pork steaks, smoked pork chops, nitrate free porkchops, many varieties of sausage, country ribs, spare ribs, shoulder butt roast, boneless shoulder roast, loin roasts, boneless and bone in, scrapple, pork roll and other miscellaneous parts.    The early bird gets the tenderloins!

Tip:  Make your own pork burgers from ground pork. it is a nice change from beef burgers.

Of course everyone grows basil in their windows and gardens but you need large bunches to make pesto, you will need lots for sliced tomato salads --get the bunches you need at the market.

WHISKED! Peach or Blueberry Pies. The savory quiches:  Corn, Cheddar or Roasted Tomato and Goat Cheese.

GARNER: MELONS.  Yellow sweet corn,  red and white potatoes, field tomatoes (heirlooms and hybrids and cherries), eggplants, sun melons, fascination melons, 7 kinds of summer squash, okra, ,leeks, beets,  swiss chard, kales, spring onion, flat, yellow and green beans, , candy onions

Sale on Sauce tomatoes --good quality seconds that make great sauce.  Roast them and freeze or  make sauce and can.

PAINTED HAND: LOTS of Veal Burgers to go with those Panorama buns and slices of tomatoes.  And Sandy is keen on a spicy pepper, tomato and egg dish I ate every day in Chicago a few weeks ago: http://pasture2plate.blogspot.com/2013/07/traditional-delights-from-ottoman-empire.html.  Goats, Rose Veal, Eggs, and Bloomindog favorite dog treats.

NORTH MT PASTURES: sausages, bacons, cured meats, eggs from their beautiful Pennsylvania farm.

PANORAMA:     Panorama has a new French Pastry Baker, a Maitre Boulanger  (Master Baker) , Damien.   His wife, Linda, is at the stand with Emmanuel. If you have ever been to a French pastry shop, you will recognize the names.  If not,  come find out!  And Croissant fans, they tell me they have ENRICHED all the Croisssants.  So, Breakfast is at Panorama no matter what time you wake up:Palmiers Rocher, Meringue, Plie au Chcocolat, Kouign Aman.

NUMBER 1 SONS From kimchi to authentic New York Style Deli Pickles to interesting Krauts, they have the best of the fermented foods.

See you  Sunday:  heat, rain or shine.
