Subject: High Capacity Transformer Installations

Hello residents,

Councilmember McDuffie wanted to provide you with an update regarding Pepco's plan to install high capacity transformers in the Bloomingdale community next week.

Our office has been in contact with Pepco, and the previously planned outage on Tuesday, August 13th for Rhode Island Ave, 1st Street and T Street, NW has been canceled.

Note that the following scheduled outages are still expected to occur as planned:
  • Monday, August 12 - Flagler Place and V Street, NW
Electric service will be interrupted for a small number of customers, approximately 94, on Monday, August 12th, from 12 a.m. until 6 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the installation will occur on Tuesday, August 13 from 12 a.m. until 6 a.m.
  • Wednesday, August 14 - Rhode Island Ave between North Capitol and 1st Street, NW
Electric service will be interrupted for a small number of customers, approximately 78, on Wednesday, August 14th, from 12 a.m. until 6 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the installation will occur on Thursday, August 15 from 12 a.m. until 6 a.m.

Increased load, caused by growth in the area has put stress on the aging infrastructure. This work is a part of Pepco's efforts to address recent service issues and improve reliability for the Bloomingdale community. Customers affected by the work should receive a door hanger and a phone call from Pepco in the coming days.
