Subject: Age-Friendly DC Community Consultations
:
Transforming
DC Together Into an Even Better City in Which to Grow Up and Grow Older
Let your
voice be heard! Tell us what needs to be addressed and prioritized to
make DC a more livable city for all ages. Join friends and neighbors at a
series of Community Consultations that will be held across the city to
talk in small groups about policies and priorities for the next
Age-Friendly DC Strategic Plan. Volunteer facilitators will lead
discussions covering 12 overarching topic areas:
Outdoor
Spaces and Buildings
Transportation
Housing
Social
Participation
Respect
and Social Inclusion
Civic
Participation and Employment
Communication
and Information
Community
Support and Health Services
Emergency
Preparedness and Resilience
Elder
Abuse, Neglect, Fraud, and Other Legal Issues
Food
Security
Caregiving
All
attendees will have an opportunity to share their thoughts on each of the
12 topic areas in small group discussions so that every voice is heard.
We also
invite those who are interested in doing so, to arrange their own
Community Consultation. This can be done through any group or
organization you are a part of, or simply by gathering a number of
friends and neighbors together and going through the Consultation
process. The ideal number of people to have in any one small group
discussion is between 5-8 as one person will have to facilitate the
discussion and one person will have to take notes of what is said.
Consultations that are larger than this should plan to break into
multiple small groups with facilitators and notetakers in each. If you
are interested in hosting a Consultation and have not gone through our
Community Consultation facilitator training, please email agefriendly@dc.gov or
call 202-727-2736.
