Subject: NEBT: Florida Avenue NW Construction Site Update
|
Greetings
Neighbors.
Saturday Work
DC Water’s contractor will conduct work on Saturday, July 11,
2020, at the Florida Avenue NW Construction Site. The
work will be contained within the drop shaft of the construction
site. The activity should not cause any additional traffic or
pedestrian impacts. There will be no hauling from the site during
this Saturday work.
Saturday work at the Florida Avenue site is scheduled to take place
from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. People who live or work near the site
may notice some noise associated with construction
activities. It is possible crews will work occasionally on
Saturdays throughout July.
Thank you for your patience.
Project Details
The Northeast Boundary Tunnel is the largest component of the Clean
Rivers Project. It begins south of RFK Stadium and will extend
north to Rhode Island Avenue, NE, and west to 6th Street
NW. When finished, the approximately five-mile-long tunnel segment
will complete the Anacostia River Tunnel, a 13.1-mile-long tunnel
that ends at the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant.
This project will significantly reduce chronic flooding in the
areas it serves, as well as reduce the amount of combined sewer
overflows into the Anacostia River.
