It was a facetious, cynical comment; meant to mimic the old-timers' point of view. It's actually a "black thing"... read inshaw.com/blog for insight into how the "black thing" argument is being used to shut newcomers up at ANC meetings.

Question the way things are, and be told "It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand".
