A look at the Democratic candidates' views on some of the most pressing issues facing Washington.
Parks & libraries

Bowser:  ... Bowser has overseen the McMillan site redevelopment as chair of the council's Economic Development Committee. She has spoken in favor of increasing the amount of affordable housing on the 25-acre site.

Evans: ...  Evans has lent support to Friends of McMillan Park, an activist group that has fought the redevelopment plan backed by Mayor Gray and other D.C. Council members. But the extent of his commitment to the group's vision to "preserve, restore, and adaptively reuse" the site, rather than develop it, is unclear.

Gray:   ... At the McMillan site, the Gray administration has proceeded with plans to develop the 25-acre former water filtration plant, devoting one-third to a park, one-third to housing and one-third to offices and retail.

Orange: ... Orange, who previously represented the ward hosting the McMillan site, said he wants to see redevelopment plans proceed swiftly, but said he wants to maximize the amount of green space open to the public.

Shallal:  ...  On the McMillan site plan, Shallal says he supports development but has concerns about transparency and public input, saying "you can never have too many public hearings on this issue."

Wells: ...  Regarding the McMillan site, Wells supports development on the site but would push to include more housing for seniors and low-income residents.

Goes to show that Friends of McMillan and their campagin of lies and fear hasn't done anything for there cause. Not one candidate has given them support. Everyone is in favor of development of the site with a balance plan. Sorry but time to Creat McMillan Park
