Greetings
First Street Tunnel Stakeholders,
Please see
below for FST Community Updates:
Veterans
Day: SKJD will work on
Wednesday, November 11th.
Lucy, the TBM
is continuing her journey southbound. Lucy is currently under First
Street in the 2300 block heading southbound to the 2200 block of First Street.
We are pleased to report that Lucy has made a successful run under the 2400 and
2300 blocks. We are continuing to place door hangers on resident’s doors
in advance of the TBM being under that block. We expect Lucy to
complete her run (2700 feet) under the intersection of First and Rhode Island
Ave NW by December 2015.
Construction
activities at V Street: This
work will require temporary “No Parking” signs and enforcement in the
area shown on the attached map-V Street and 2nd Street NW. The
purpose of the no parking area is to safely remove a large crane from the V
Street site. SKJD will use the area where the crane was located to begin
construction of the V- Street diversion chamber. One of three diversion
chambers is required in this area. The “No Parking” signs will be removed
as soon as the crane is through these areas.
Construction
activities at Adams and Flagler:
This work will include construction of the adit from the bottom of the drop
shaft (48% complete) and the delivery of concrete. In addition, there will be concrete
pours at Flagler Pl side of construction staging area that will require
additional restricted parking. Next pour requiring restricted parking
will be approximately 11/11/15. Parking on Flagler Pl will be available
following the concrete pour.
Regarding the FEMs Doors Mural Project: 20
FEMS doorway murals are now in place. The remainder will be placed in
mid-to-late November.
Construction
activities at the Thomas Street-CSA:
This will include the construction of the adit at the bottom of the drop shaft
and installation of force main within construction staging area. SKJD plans to
place the force main across First Street in early December.
Thanksgiving
Holiday Schedule: SKJD
will stop work on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 25 and return to work
Monday, November 30th. No work on Thursday, Friday,
Saturday or Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Happy Thanksgiving to
all!
Thanks to
all 103 people who participated in the FST Community Hard Hat Day on Saturday,
October 24—it was a great day.
Please check the web site in the coming days for action photos.
Temporary
“No Parking:”
Installation of ground monitoring equipment along First Street is
ongoing. Consequently, some temporary ‘No Parking” signs are required in
selected areas to safely perform the work. We will remove signs as soon
as the work is completed.
Tunnel Forum
Meeting: The next
Tunnel Forum is scheduled for Thursday, January 28th 2016 at 7PM.
The meeting location will be ST. Georg’s Episcopal Church at 160 U Street NW.
Please continue
to check our web site for updated project information. And as always, please
feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions or concerns.
If you have a concern or complaint about ongoing construction, please call the
24/ 7 hotline at: 1-844-FST-INFO (1-844-378-4636).
Sincere
Regards,
