new for Bloomingdale #2: permit to construct a SECOND, THREE-STORY NEW building at 14 Channing Street NW -- in the back yard

Something new for Bloomingdale, I believe.

A permit has been issued for 14 Channing Street NW, which is on an alley.




Here is the description from the application:


THE SCOPE OF WORK INCLUDES THE RENOVATION OF AN EXISTING SINGLE FAMILY HOME WITH THE ADDITION OF A THIRD FLOOR AND A THREE-STORY ADDITION TO THE REAR OF THE PROPERTY WITH A COVERED WALKWAY CONNECTION AT 14 CHANNING STREET NW. THE SINGLE-FAMILY HOME IS TO BE CONVERTED TO A TWO-DWELLING FLAT. THE WORK INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: - REMOVAL OF FIXTURES AND FINISHES THROUGHOUT - DEMOLITION OF SELECT BEARING AND NON-BEARING MEMBERS - ADDITION OF THIRD STORY OVER EXISTING TWO-STORY HOME - THREE STORY PLUS BASEMENT ADDITION - NEW ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, AND MECHANICAL SYSTEMS THROUGHOUT - TWO CAR PARKING PAD ON GRADE

The new, second building would be "connected" to the original rowhouse building via a covered walkway.

I believe that this new, second building on the property is compliant with the new Zoning Regulations of 2016 -- referred to as ZR16.  Here is a link to ZR16 info.

So ... I think that this project to construct a new, second building on the lot of 14 Channing St NW is matter-of-right.
