Subject: [WARD5] Onwards to 2018! McMillan Park 2017 holiday gathering report

Dear Good McMillan Park Supporters and SMAC participating members!

On December 20, 2017, more than 50 McMillan Park supporters came out to enjoy the holidays and celebrate our park, and we raised almost $1000 for our cause. See video and pics here >> http://www.savemcmillan.org/holidaze2017

"I believe this case [the McMillan project] represents the continuation and modernization of... the history and heritage of Bloomingdale's racial segregation... and really needs to be questioned very seriously." ~Bertha Holliday, Ward 5 ANC Commissioner and Bloomingdale Resident.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMM4JbWMeTM

In the new year, we will continue to defend our park from privatization and destruction.  Will you defend McMillan Park with us? http://www.savemcmillan.org/calender

2017 in review

In 2017, we defended our McMillan Park again.  We went to the zoning hearings and preservation hearings, outnumbering those in support 10:1.  Experts testified on behalf of our public park and in defense of much better civic planning.  We wrote hundreds of letters to the Council and about 10,000 supporters have signed petitions. http://www.savemcmillan.org/petition

"This may be the right project somewhere, but certainly not at crossroads of a major east-west, north-south throughway in the District of Columbia." -- Eddie Johnson, longtime Ward 5 planner and architect.

In 2018, we will transform the Mayor's gargantuan mistake (the proposed downtown sized project with 120+ foot tall buildings that have poor doors) into a positive plan for the future of Wards 1 & 5, let alone the city and nation.

Get involved & DEFEND MCMILLAN!
Thank you for all of your efforts, energies, and love for our park!
