Hi Robin!

We're working hard at the pickle factory for the markets starting this month and next! I'm sure you're doing a bit of market prep too. Sadly, Stephanie is going into pickle retirement. We've posting up a storm for hiring, but haven't gotten many bites from the Bloomingdale/H Street area. Lots from Columbia Heights!

Do you know of any listservs/boards that you'd recommend that I could post a short job listing? I've posted in yoga, eco, etc boards so far. Job listing is pasted below.

Thanks

Caitlin

Number 1 Sons, a local business that makes delicious pickles + fermented foods, is currently hiring farmers market help! We go to markets in DC, Northern Virginia, Montgomery County and Baltimore. If you love food, enjoy being outdoors at farmers markets and are looking for 1-2 days of work, this is a great gig for you. We have a very diverse pickle crew -- students, teachers, lawyers, nonprofit, writers, moms, engineers, etc -- and we all enjoy working hard and sharing our love of fermented foods + eating well! Throughout the season, we do potluck dinners, an annual pig roast and farm field trips.

We are hiring for both driving and non-driving market shifts. Driving shifts start at the pickle factory in Ivy City. We're hiring for a few weekday driving farmers market shifts. Most farmers markets are weekend shifts in Loudoun, Fairfax, Falls Church, Arlington, Alexandria, Rockville, Bethesda, Baltimore and DC. Shifts range from 5-8 hours depending on market length -- we pay by the shift.

General Qualifications:

·  Able to lift 35 lbs. (buckets of pickles and other ferments)
·  Able to work independently and as part of a team
·  Able to multi-task, enjoy working in a fast-paced outdoor farmers market environment
·  Able to give superior customer service, make small talk rooted in food and cooking
·  Enthusiastic about all things food, especially pickles, kimchi, fermented foods and kombucha!
·  Consistent weekly availability from April/May to November
·  For driving shifts, have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

If you are interested in joining our pickle crew, email Jenny at Markets@Number1Sons.com for more info about the job + to schedule a trial shift!
