SWIRLY GIRL CREAMERY is back.  Here are a few of the cheeses to look forward to on Sunday. Mark K is your guide.  Are you ready for a Greek Salad with tomatoes, cucumber and feta?

  • Morbier: this semi soft cow cheese with a layer of vegetable ash is a shout out to one of my favorite French cheeses.
  • Winter Morning is their most popular, a bloomy rind cheese
  • Feta, Tomato Basil Bovre and Farmhouse cow cheeses are all great with pasta -- or on crackers.
  • You like Funky cheese, they have Mooster, Firetruck and Cowttin.  Mooster is soft and spreadable and melts well. Firetruck is a salty, hard, grater, Cowttin is similar to a triple cream.  The longer you keep it, the funkier it gets.  Very French.

GARNER's PRODUCE:  Hot peppers!Lots of corn, peppers, eggplants, tomatoes. Swiss chard, sugar snaps, citrusy purslane great with tomatoes, kales, squash and zuchini, collard, spring onions, loose onions, stir fry greens, Salad mix, lettuce mix, cabbages, carrots, cukes, radishes, Napa, arrow, Savoy, regular green round) Stone ground grits and cornmeal, hot pepper jelly. Hot sauces. Some herb plants. berries: blackberries and raspberries
Squash blossoms this week! Green and wax beans back! basil. cilantro.  Will there be a few ears of corn this week?

KING MUSHROOM FARM:  Shiitake, maitake, cremini, portobello, exotic mix, lion's mane, king trumpet, chestnut, oyster...Yes, you can order at the stand too. Grill those mushrooms.

REID is peachy, life is a bowl of cherries and it is berry berry good.. So, this week the peaches are the yellow Desiree and White Spring Snow.  Bing dark red cherries and Emperor Francis white/red cherries and the last of the tart pie cherries, The first summer apples are Lodi apples - good for applesauce and apple crisp. Red and black raspberries, currants and red adn green gooseberries. Green and yellow beans, summer squash including Cocazelle Italian zucchini, cukes.

Herb plants because it is not too late to plant them.  And new cilantro plants should be replanted every few weeks.  That is what they do in Mexico.  Let the older plants go to flower and seed. Save the seeds -- they are coriander seeds. 3 kinds of basil, 3 oreganos, 3 chives,  3 sage,  5 mints, thymes, dill..... Container gardens already planted for you too.

NUMBER 1 SONS:  Yay. Number 1 Sons is STAFFED again at their stand where you will be able to buy their greatest hits in prepacks so that transactions go quickly ( Haley is back). Cucumber Pickles and hot sauces

PANORAMA:  A dozen different breads, croissants and breakfast pastries from two French bakers.

CUCINA AL VOLO: Good pasta weather Sunday.   Remember the green kale fusilli makes the best cold pasta salad.  The spirals catch all the bits of vegetable and cheese and chopped herbs.   And a little of their Tuscan pesto dresses a lot of pasta.
