Holy
Cross Day
September
14th
A major feast observed on Sept. 14 in honor of
Christ's self-offering on the cross for our salvation. The
collect for Holy Cross Day recalls that Christ "was lifted
high upon the cross that he might draw the whole world unto
himself," and prays that "we, who glory in the mystery
of our redemption, may have grace to take up our cross and follow
him" (BCP, p. 192). The themes of Holy Cross Day are
powerfully expressed by the hymn "Lift high the cross"
(Hymn 473).
Almighty
God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ was lifted high upon the
cross that he might draw the whole world to himself: Mercifully
grant that we, who glory in the mystery of our redemption, may
have grace to take up our cross and follow him; who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory
everlasting. Amen.

U St. Townhouse Update
Thank
You!
We are
finalizing all work in the townhouse this week. Our broker has
begun to advertise our offices for lease with the goal of having
all offices leased to Non Profit organizations. City Farm - our
current renters - will continue with us but will lease one of the
bigger offices. We look forward to our continued relationship
with them!

Serving the Community

Kwanzaa Kitchen: Janis has
been able to come up with a unique way in which we will continue
to feed the hungry in this important ministry. It involves fewer
than 6 people and we will pack the food to go and place it
outside on tables for people to take their breakfast with them.
We will continue this way until we are able to gather groups
together again.
