160 Adams Street NW to be developed as a "co-living environment"

Recall that Bloomingdale has two Hofgard houses -- more correctly, former Hofgard houses.

At 160 Adams Street NW and 36 Channing Street NW.

Recall that they became the property of the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).

DHCD auctioned off these two properties in the Vacant to Vibrant program.

The winning bids came from Howard University.

Recall that HU is required to develop these two properties as "workforce housing."

The properties are still owned by the city.  Howard University does not yet own these two properties.

Here are two 2018 Bloomingdale Neighborhood blog post links if you want to catch up

so ... Howard University is the winning bidder for 160 Adams St NW & 36 Channing St NW -- in the recent DHCD Vacant to Vibrant property auction

And here is today's news about one of these two HU properties -- 160 Adams Street NW:

The plans for this rowhouse: to become a co-living environment -- six bedrooms, each with its own private full bathroom, with common area kitchen, living and dining space.

And note that the units will be at or below 80% of the AMI.

What does this sound like?

The Common co-living two buildings at 410 & 412 Richardson Place NW, which some nearby Truxton Circle residents raised a ruckus over.
