Bowser strikes deals for new Howard hospital and new Southeast D.C. hospital

The
District has reached long elusive agreements for hospitals to replace the
troubled United Medical Center and Howard University facilities, city officials
said Thursday, a move that would transform health-care access in heavily
African American parts of the city.

Young
also said the District would offer nearly $300 million to help Howard
University build a new hospital campus, a culmination of a long search for a
new facility for the nation’s longtime training ground for black doctors.
