Mat Bader: McMillan project -- what the District will pay for vs. what the developer will pay for

See this message is from Bloomingdale resident  Mat Bader:

In reading over some recent posts I think it might be necessary to clarify one matter regarding what the District will likely pay for and what Vision McMillan Partners, LLC will likely pay for as it pertains to the McMillan project. According to the Exclusive Rights Agreement signed between the two parties, the District will pay for:

-- Backbone Common Infrastructure - to include streets, street improvements, utilities (including stormwater management) and lighting

-- Common Area Amentities - to include active open space, historic preservation and landscaping

In preliminary talks about community amenities and facts related to the site, the open space, community center and historic preservation are often lauded. It should be clear that the District will be financing these components and not the developer (the community center financing is still unclear). I believe this is an important distinction going forward as we discuss a community benefits agreement.

I am still working to find out exactly how much the District will commit to each of the above items and any other subsidies or financial concessions the District will provide. I will share any information with you as it becomes available.

As always, people can reach out to me at mathew.bader@gmail.com with any questions.
