Thank you, Jana, for helping followup with this. The victim was on his way to visit my roommate. I will credit the police for the speed with which they arrived after the incident was reported. I hope they have equal speed in tracking down the perpetrator.

The victim was walking on U Street from 6th to 5th, and was attacked in the street in front of the row of townhouses in the 520's range. It was 1030 pm, and the victim was walking down the street (sober) when someone came up behind him, placed a gun to his neck, and demanded his wallet or he'd be sot.
