DanaChip Brainstorming/Launch Party

at Samsara House 2023

Friday, April 18th - 7:30 - 10:30 PM

Are you interested in alternative and complementary means of exchange other than our current money system?  Are you interested in the idea of gift-based system which enables a buyer and seller to decide mindfully how to practice generosity by contributing their "fair share" in the exchange of goods and services?

The "DanaChip" made a first trial run in Washington D.C. at the March 29th workshop on Money, Gift & Culture: Creating a New Story of Value and Purpose featuring Charles Eisenstein.
The eastern word dana (pronounced daah-na) -- means generosity. The DanaChip is based on bringing together four key factors: the gifter's annual income and sense of quality of the product or service, as well as the product or service's actual cost and average local incomes. The seller creates three suggested gifting levels, expressed in DanaChips, and buyers do a simple calculation to determine the personal value of a DanaChip based on their income. They then give the gift that best matches their sense of the product or service offering's value based on the suggested DanaChip giving levels.
Instead of guesswork, buyers can gift their "fair share" based on their personal means, the value of the product or service for them, as well as knowing their giving is aligned to the actual costs. Sellers are assured that if everyone gives at the lowest suggested level, the product or service offering will break-even, and are empowered to take in more funds from those with the most means or who are most enthusiastic about it.

If the concept can be proven on a small scale, in the future, then DanaChip could potentially expand into a mobile/web-based progressive gifting service and online currency.
Want to come help develop this concent?  Come participate in a facilitated brainstorming session which will help discover what wants to emerge.  Come help co-create this concept and "iterate" it to the next version.
Be the change!
