DPW to Observe Emancipation Day, Wed., April 16
Sanitation services will be suspended for the day.
DPW will NOT enforce morning and afternoon rush hour and other parking restrictions.

The DC Department of Public Works will observe Emancipation Day, Wednesday, April 16; therefore, sanitation services and parking enforcement will be suspended until Thursday, April 17. 
Sanitation services will be suspended for the holiday and will resume Thursday, April 17.
·         In once-a-week trash and recycling collection neighborhoods, Wednesday’s collections will “slide” to Thursday, Thursday’s collections will be made Friday and Friday’s collections will be made Saturday. 
·         In twice-a-week collection neighborhoods, Monday’s and Tuesday’s collections will follow the regular schedule while Thursday’s collections will “slide” to Friday and Friday’s collections will be made Saturday.
·         Street sweeping will be suspended Wednesday and resume Thursday, April 17.
The Ft. Totten Transfer Station* will be closed Wednesday, April 16 and reopen Thursday, April 17 to residents between 1 pm and 5 pm. 
The next Household Hazardous Waste/E-cycling drop-off will be Saturday, April 12, 8 am to 3 pm.  DPW announced last week that the HHW/E-cycling drop-off will be weekly while personal document shredding will remain the first Saturday of the month (except holidays) only.  The next shredding drop-off is Saturday, May 3. Additionally, DPW will conduct a monthly weekday HHW/e-cycling drop-off the first Thursday of each month (except holidays).  The next Thursday HHW/e-cycling drop-off is Thursday, May 1, 1 pm to 5 pm.
DPW will not enforce parking restrictions Wednesday, April 16.  Normal enforcement resumes April 17.
