Good Afternoon,

During ongoing analysis of our electrical distribution system in Bloomingdale, we determined that we need to replace infrastructure near the intersection of 1st and U St., NW.  Crews will replace and increase the capacity of 2 transformers at the southeast corner of 1st and U St., NW.  In addition, we will replaced cables on U St. between 1st and North Capitol St., NW.

To facilitate this work, we will need to conduct a scheduled outage.  This work is scheduled to occur overnight, starting at 12:01 a.m. and concluding at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3rd.  In the event of inclement weather, the rain date will be for the same times on Wednesday, June 4th.  Customers will be notified of this work by door hanger notification and with an outbound call.

We did want to also update you on a separate project in Bloomingdale.  We recently completed the project to increase capacity in the alley between N. Capitol St., 1st St., Adams St., and W St.  We first installed approximately 600 feet of new conduit and 2 manholes.  We then installed new cables and transformers.  Finally, we transferred customers to the new higher capacity cables.

If you have any questions about this work, please let us know and we will be glad to follow up.

Thank you for your patience as we work through these upgrades.

Best,
Chris Taylor

See this 05/31/2014 clarifying note from Chris Taylor:  The 06/03/2014 and 06/10/2014 outages will not impact the same customers. Customers in the area should only be impacted by one of the two outages.
