Last night there was an attempted break-in to our house at
2nd and W NW. We heard a large crash in the middle of the night (which did not
trigger the house alarm), and then this morning, we discovered that someone had
jumped a wall to gain access to our deck - and then moved our deck furniture
against the wall of the house to see if they could gain access to the second
floor windows (the crash appears to have been our flimsy deck furniture).
Needless to say, we am deeply distressed by this. After
living here for 10 years, this is the first observed event in trying to gain
access to the house.
A police report has been filed. We will be installing bars
on the rear windows, motion sensor floodlights, and are considering installing
a camera.
I just wanted to alert everyone to this unfortunate event,
and would be open to any ideas or suggestions that neighbors may have.
