the Mayor's submitted FY 2019 budget proposes adding historic landmarks to the HPO's Homeowner Grant program -- so that residents of the new Wardman Flats historic landmark can participate in the homeowner grant program

As noted in prior Bloomingdale Neighborhood blog posts, the Mayor has submitted her FY 2019 budget proposal to the DC Council.

Her introductory letter to the DC Council mentions adding historic landmarks to the DC Office of Planning Historic Preservation Office (HPO) Homeowner Grant program.  Thank you, Mayor!

So residents of the new Wardman Flats historic landmark, bounded by Florida Ave NW, 3rd St NW, R St NW and 4th St NW, would be eligible to participate in the homeowner grant program.

Here are two snips from the Mayor's intro letter on expanding historic preservation assistance to add historic landmarks to historic districts for participation in the HPO homeowner grant program.

Note that a Bloomingdale neighbor and I testified at the Monday, 03-26-2018, DC Council budget oversight hearing for the DC Office of Planning.

We asked that historic landmarks be added to the HPO homeowner grant program.

DC Council Chair Mendelson advised that the submitted mayoral budget already included such language.  Excellent!
