Feast
of the Transfiguration
Today
August 6, 2020
August 6 is the Feast of the Transfiguration of
Our Lord Jesus Christ, which commemorates Jesus’ unveiling as the
Son of God, and his radical change of appearance while in the
presence of Peter, James and John on a mountaintop.
O God, who on the holy mount revealed to chosen
witnesses your well-beloved Son, wonderfully transfigured, in
raiment white and glistening: Mercifully grant that we, being
delivered from the disquietude of this world, may by faith behold
the King in his beauty; who with you, O Father, and you, O Holy
Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen (Book
of Common Prayer, p. 243).

The
Reverend Yolanda Rolle
On behalf of The Right Reverend Mariann Edgar
Budde and St. George's Wardens & Vestry, I am pleased to
announce that The Rev. Yolanda Rolle will join the St. George's
staff as the Associate Priest for Spiritual Formation and
Collaboration. The Rev. Rolle will be half time with St. George's
while continuing her position as the Anglican Chaplain at Howard
University half time. She will make her home here at St. George's
sharing an office with The Rev. Jenkins and building a parish
home for the Episcopal students at Howard. The integration of the
Chaplain at Howard along with the students brings with it old
connections and future possibilities. The Rev. Rolle begins with
St. George's on September 1, 2020. The Holy Spirit is moving
about in St. George's!

Kwanzaa Kitchen: Janis has
been able to come up with a unique way in which we will continue
to feed the hungry in this important ministry. It involves fewer
than 6 people and we will pack the food to go and place it
outside on tables for people to take their breakfast with them.
We will continue this way until we are able to gather groups
together again.
