160 U Street Washington DC 20001

This Parish of the Episcopal / Anglican Church was founded in 1930 as an Episcopal Church for African Americans. St. George's witnesses to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as expressed through the Anglican Tradition. We serve as a guiding light for our parishioners as well as the larger community.  We bid you welcome in the name of the Lord!

Please join the Rev. Jenkins and the Rev. Rolle as we take this journey together.

Week 3 (12/16): Birth of John the Baptist: Journeying with Community (Luke 1:57-80)

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Shhhhh....we know it is still Advent but... Drive by the church to see our tree in the church yard. Or drive by and stop to put an ornament on the tree. 2020 has been a tough year for all of us. Help St. George's make our church festive for us and the neighborhood bringing as much cheer as we can this year while we are not gathered physically. All ornaments welcomed.

The Daily Office of Evening Prayer

Monday - Thursday Each Week

5:30 p.m.

Join St. George's for the Daily Office of Evening Prayer held Monday through Thursday at 5:30.

The Daily Office is an ancient practice that uses daily prayers to mark the times of the day. For Anglicans, this generally comes in the form of the two main offices of Daily Morning Prayer and Daily Evening Prayer.

The Purpose of the Daily Office: The sanctification of time – a reminder that all time is sacred since all time belongs to God and the sanctification of the individual – a way to draw a person closer to God.

Follow along with Evening Prayer in the Book of Common Prayer (p. 61-73)

At our annual meeting in January we will elect new members to the Vestry. St. George's needs you. Please consider serving or nominating someone else to serve. Vestry service is, foremost, a matter of spiritual leadership. The temporal tasks of the Vestry are vital: the Vestry is the legal governing body of our parish, responsible for holding and maintaining all our property and financial assets. Its temporal duties, however, are subordinate to the Vestry’s spiritual calling. More information and criteria for serving will follow.

Outreach: Serving the Community

Kwanzaa Kitchen: Janis has been able to come up with a unique way in which we will continue to feed the hungry in this important ministry. It involves fewer than 6 people and we will pack the food to go and place it outside on tables for people to take their breakfast with them. We will continue this way until we are able to gather groups together again.
