Opponents of the redevelopment of the McMillan Sand Filtration site are mounting another legal challenge to the project, though their options for continuing to block demolition on the property are dwindling.
A group of 31 critics of the project asked the D.C. Court of Appeals last week to continue barring any work from starting on the redevelopment effort, one of the most tortured construction projects in the city’s history. Specifically, the group is appealing a March 18 ruling by the D.C. Office of Administrative Hearings that dismissed their concerns about demolition permits tied to the project.
