The Friends of McMillan Park to Request Meeting with Councilmember/Mayoral
Candidate Bowser ASAP

The Friends of McMillan Park (FOM) plan to ask Councilmember Muriel Bowser for a meeting as soon as possible to ask for her support in pressing Mayor Gray to cancel the “surplus” designation of McMillan and open up the bidding for the development of the site. The request will be made this Thursday evening at CM Bowser’s Ward 5 meet-and-greet mayoral campaign event. The event will take place at 2401 1st Street NW, just one block south of the McMillan site in the heart of Bloomingdale in Ward 5.

As one of several declared mayoral candidates and chair of the Council’s Economic Development Committee, Councilmember Bowser is an important potential partner in saving McMillan.  FOM looks forward to briefing her and getting her support to help preserve this national and local historic treasure though open competition and real and full community input.
