Robert Sullivan provides an update on the LeDroit Park/Bloomingdale Heritage Trail project

Subject: LeDroit Park/Bloomingdale Heritage Trail

Yes, the LeDroit Park/Bloomingdale Heritage Trail has stalled (as has the Anacostia trail).  In conjunction with Cultural Tourism DC, the neighborhood working group completed all developmental work on the trail over a year ago, and turned it over to the District Department of Transportation for the fabrication and installation of the signs that comprise the trail.

DDOT has done nothing in that time; they have yet to even issue the RFP to manufacture and install the signs.  They tell us that their procurement process is slow.  "Dead in the water" might be a better description.

Along with John Salatti and Cultural Tourism DC, I've been insisting that DDOT provide us with a detailed timeline of the activities necessary to complete the trail.  Councilmembers Catania and Bowser have joined us in this effort.  The Anacostia team is also applying pressure.

We remain hopeful.

Plus these additional comments from Robert:

Cheh, McDuffie, Graham, Catania, and Bowser were all copied on my correspondence with Terry Bellamy of DDOT.  Catania and Bowser were the only ones who responded and showed an interest, though I'm sure Mary Cheh was very aware of it.  Not sure why there was no response from McDuffie or Graham.

I note that Terry Bellamy has resigned as DDOT Director as of the end of this month.

Note also that John Salatti and I are co-chairs of the LP/B'dale heritage trail working group.
