Currently, the 25-acre McMillan Sand Filtration site stands abandoned, empty, and without any use, save for being an eyesore, but soon it will house a number of brand new mixed-used developments. The Bloomingdale neighborhood blog reported that the Zoning Commission approved the plans for McMillan's Parcel 4 on Thursday. These plans involve constructing a mixed-use, multi-family building with 255,000 square feet of residential space and a roughly 53,000-square-foot grocery store. Located between 1st and Half streets NE, this project will house a total of 250 apartments,25 of which will be for those making 80 percent of the area median income.
