Hi Mitch,

I followed up with MPD as well and Captain McDonald has committed to providing that area with special attention.  Our office appreciates your commitment to the community and bringing this matter to our attention.  The difficulty with shootings such as this one that do not result in physical injury is that there is an increased likelihood that it may not be reported.

If there is anything that I can assist you with in the future feel free to reach out to me anytime.

Sincerely,

Jonathan McNair

Thank you, Kenyan.  We greatly appreciate your service and attention to this matter.  As you know, we have a great community here in Bloomingdale and appreciate anything you can do to help keep the area safe by having MPD provide additional attention to the area.

Best regards,

Mitch

shoot-out on the 100 block of Bryant Street NW today

Good Morning, Mitch:

Thank you for your email.  I reached out to MPD and was informed that they are aware that there was an unlawful discharge of a firearm, however there is no report of any person being struck by a bullet.  I have requested that MPD provide special attention to this particular area.  I will also contact the Office of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement and request their assistance in the area. I have also copied Jonathan McNair from my staff to this email. Jonathan has been working closing with various agencies on the issue of gun violence in the community.

In Service,

Kenyan

Hi Kenyan,

I am sure you are already aware of the shoot-out that occurred on the 100 block of Bryant Street NW today.  This is the second shoot-out with multiple rounds of gunfire that has occurred within a two block radius on Bryant Street NW within the past three months.  Would you be able to provide the Bloomingdale community with an update in respect to how the police are investigating these two incidents as well as what you and the DC police are doing to prevent shoot-outs like this from occurring in our neighborhood moving forward?
Thank you,

Mitch
