Washington,
D.C. -- Today, Wednesday, October 30, 2019, the D.C. Council
Committee of the Whole will hold a hearing on the Go-Go Official Music of
the District of Columbia Designation Act of 2019
[B23-0317]. The legislation was introduced on June 4, 2019, led by
Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie and co-introduced by every
member of the D.C. Council.

In
addition to amending the official D.C. code to enshrine go-go
music as a part of the fabric of the District, the legislation also
requires the Mayor to design and implement a program to support,
preserve, and archive go-go music and its related documents and
recordings.
Immediately following the hearing, or at 6:00 PM, Black
Passion Experience Band will perform in the first-floor atrium of
the John A. Wilson Building.
