John Tillman, 63, stabbed to death in Truxton Circle Park; suspect Deon Thomas arrested

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with fatally stabbing a man Sunday night in a small park in Northwest Washington’s Truxton Circle, according to D.C. police.
         
Deon Anthony Thomas, of Northeast, was charged with second-degree murder while armed. The victim, John Thomas Tillman, 63, of Southeast, died at an area hospital shortly after he was stabbed about 10:10 p.m. at Florida Avenue and North Capitol Street Northwest.

Police have not released a suspected motive in the attack. Thomas could make his first appearance in D.C. Superior Court on Tuesday, when more details will be made available in court documents.
                   
The killing was the District’s third over the weekend and the second in Truxton Circle, a small neighborhood roughly bordered by New York, New Jersey and Florida avenues, and North Capitol Street. On Saturday, D.C. police said a 32-year-old man was found fatally shot in an alley off the 200 block of Bates Street Northwest.
