Good Afternoon,

We wanted to provide a quick update on our activities in Bloomingdale.  Starting next week, we will be replacing a transformer and adding an additional transformer in order to increase capacity at N. Capitol St. and Channing St., NW and at N. Capitol St. and Bryant St., NW.  To facilitate this work,  we have scheduled a planned outage for April 8th between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.  A rain date is scheduled for the same times on April 9th.  Customers impacted by this work were notified by door hangers on Monday, March 31.

If you have any questions or concerns about these projects, please let us know and we will be glad to assist.  We appreciate your patience as we continue to take the necessary steps to improve reliability in Bloomingdale.

Have a great weekend.

Best,

Subject:        Pepco Update re: Reliability Improvements [Bloomingdale Community]

Good morning,
With temperatures rising, we are in the process of rescheduling the reliability improvements that were cancelled due to temperature restrictions in December 2013.
As a reminder, this project concerns the final aspect of converting Feeder 147 from 4 kV - 13 kV, which will increase the capacity to the area. The final aspect of this project was originally scheduled in December; however, we had to postpone the necessary customer outages due to temperature restrictions.  As previously communicated, our crews have completed the conduit work and have installed the new cable. The final aspect of this project entails converting customers to the new feeder, which will require a series of scheduled outages.

Based upon the current forecasts, crews are planning to convert customers on the nights of March 16th, 18th, 19th, and  20th between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. While the conversion will take place over the course of four evenings,  customers will only be impacted by one outage.  Impacted customers will be notified of the specific date of their outage via a door hanger. Door hangers will begin being placed on Tuesday, March 11th.

Please note that in order to protect the privacy of our customers, we have not included the specific dates of each location.
The locations of the scheduled outages will be in the follow areas:

  • V St. from 2nd St. to Flagler St., NW
  • 4th St. from V St. to U St., NW
  • Elm St. from 4th St. to 2nd St., NW
  • 2nd St. from U St. to V St., NW
  • Oak Dale Pl. from 5th St. to 4th St., NW

Additionally, crews are planning to convert customers in the areas below during the week of March 24. Impacted customers will be notified of the specific date via a door hanger, which will be placed on their doors during the week of March 17th. The scheduled outages will also occur between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Again, please note that in order to protect the privacy of our customers, we have not included the specific dates of each location.

  • Bryant St. from Georgia Ave. to 2nd St., NW
  • 4th St. from Bryant St. to McMillan Dr., NW

In addition to the reliability enhancements listed above, we also wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update on additional projects in the community.  Through additional system analysis, we have identified projects to replace transformers in two locations:  at the intersection of 1st and Thomas St., NW and at the corner of North Capital and Bryant St., NW.  This work will not require excavation, only the replacement of the transformers.  A date for the transformer replacement has yet to be scheduled. However, we will update you as soon as it is scheduled.

Also, we have completed the conduit work in the alley behind North Capitol St., 1st St, W St. and Adams St., NW.  Additionally, we recently started the final portion of the project where we are installing new cable, a new transformer, and are increasing the capacity of an additional transformer.  We will share more details as this work progresses.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions concerning the reliability projects noted. We appreciate your patience as we continue to take the necessary steps to improve the quality of service in the Bloomingdale community.

Regards,

                          Kirsten
