After a few building-related hiccups, the massive Washington Firehouse restaurant — which we first wrote about in July— is slated to open Oct. 24.
The three-level space includes a first floor bar and restaurant, a second floor ballroom with a mezzanine “captain’s loft” and a tucked away third floor bar and lounge tailor-made for VIPs. An authentic fireman’s pole connects the two first floors, but don’t get any ideas: a glass barrier will prevent anyone from sliding down.
The restaurant will serve up a modern American menu from Peter Prime, veteran chef of sister restaurant Shaw’s Tavern. Think steaks, but also mussel pots, Southern-tinged fare and pizzas and other baked dishes cooked in a big copper oven in the corner of the dining room.

Peter Prime? Shaw's Tavern? Is that a selling point? Look on yelp....Shaw's Tavern is the most poorly reviewed major restaurant in Bloomingdale/Shaw area.... lots of bad reviews on both service and quality. When I heard that this place was the sister to Shaw's Tavern, i started to lose interest.... But we'll see i guess, but I'm not holding my breath.
