Expect bus delays & detours, Saturday, March 12, due to Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

Saturday, March 12, 2016 | From 5:00 a.m. to mid-afternoon

Metrobus routes throughout Washington DC will be subject to significant delays and detours on Saturday, March 12, due to the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon.  Street closures associated with the event will start at 5 a.m., when Metrorail opens and will continue through mid-afternoon.

Travel Tips for Bus Customers

Expect delays and allow additional travel time. A complete list of known detours is provided below.

Transfer to Metrorail at the first opportunity. Request a special transfer from your bus operator to transfer to rail at no additional charge.

Load enough value on your SmarTrip card for your entire roundtrip in advance. SmarTrip customers now have more options for reloading their cards than ever. Learn more about adding value to your SmarTrip and Auto Reload here<http://wmata.com/fares/smartrip/smartrip_qanda.cfm#add_how>.

All service north of Constitution Avenue (detours expected until early afternoon) When the race begins, buses north of the course will turn back at a point near a rail station, if possible, resuming their regular routes into Downtown DC as streets reopen.

All service south of Constitution Avenue (detours expected through mid-afternoon) There will be no regular service from the start of the race until the runners clear the Downtown area. Service south of Constitution Avenue will be restored as streets become available. Other Southeast locations will return to regular service after the race ends.

Because the final portion of the race course is east of the Anacostia River, Metrobus service in the area will be the last to return to normal. For a detailed look at how bus routes will be affected, please see the detour map for 30-Line, 96, B2, M6, U2, U5, U6 and V8 Buses.
