CurbedDC: How Bloomingdale residents coped with yesterday's blackout

Power outages are always a drag, but when a blackout is accompanied by 95-degree heat, it can feel especially miserable. Yesterday's power outage in the Bloomingdale, Shaw and Truxton Circle neighborhoods hit in the early afternoon when it was still possible to take advantage of businesses with air conditioning and public pools. However, electricity did not return to the neighborhood until roughly 3:00 a.m. While Twitter was a cesspool for (understandable) complaining, we also found a few creative ways that residents coped with their dank, sweaty luck.
