Newsletter — November 2014
At their November 6 meeting, the Commission approved the final master plan for the Washington Navy Yard. They also reviewed the draft master plan for Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia. This installation hosts 140 Defense agencies and 39,000 employees, and is projected to add 17,000 new employees by 2030. The Commission provided comments to the DC Zoning Commission on two major redevelopment projects: the 34-acre Barry Farm public housing complex and the McMillan Sand Filtration Site. Representatives from the Eisenhower Memorial Commission provided an information presentation on approaches to lighting, pedestrian circulation, and security at the proposed memorial.
