Our own local Bloomingdale children's book author and landscape designer Tom Noll will be Celebrating Earth Day and launching his second award winning book this Saturday, April 18th at 12:00 Noon, after our Annual Spring Clean Up & Planting Day 2015 at our "Heart of Bloomingdale Park" at corner of Rhode Island Avenue and First & T Streets NW- in front of the Bicycle Fence Garden. All before the Pizza celebration at close-by Baccio.
Tom will be reading both books; will do an interactive and fun activity with the kids and a Q&A. He will also have his now famous 1950's Chevy Recycled Rainbow Truck (featured in the books) his original bicycle, an LT cutout for photo ops and for all to enjoy.
So bring blankets so all can seat on the grass for this fun event. If it rains the reading will be postponed.
Tom has won recently the Gold Mom's Choice Award for his new book that is part of his "Trash to Treasure" Series * Recycling Creatively with L.T. * "Selling Eggs" .
Last year his first book "The Bicycle Fence" was also awarded the gold prize. Books are beautifully illustrated; with the main messages in the book being about Recycling, Going Green and Saving Our Planet and that Earth Day should be celebrated every day!
This will be the official launch of his new book in DC after which his official tour of 3 weeks long will take him to Virginia, Maryland, and Ohio, San Diego and Dallas schools and libraries.

Tom is also the landscape person that refurbished a few years back and has single handedly maintains and replants every season flowers, plants and mulches in our Bloomingdale Park. He has in a caring manner all these years paid out of this own pocket for all of these and decorates the bicycles for major holidays for all of us to enjoy and for our visitors who love to have photo ops in our great park. So part of the funds from the sales of the books on Saturday or when you approach him in the neighborhood will be used to pay for the maintenance of our park.
Tom and Green Kids Press have also donate copies of both books to all the DC Public and Charter Schools and libraries in Prince William County (were author lived for so many years) and in schools & libraries in his birthplace county, Somerset, OH.– so everyone can enjoy them!
