The owner of 160 Adams Street NW lives in Great Falls, VA. She plans to convert the house into two (2) units prior to resale.

do they pay the tax money back it cost to deal with this...anyone know?
Interesting question but I would guess the answer would be no.
There are two holds listed on the property, 2 separate Stop Work Orders, neither one dated. But it would appear that the builder may only have to pay 1/2 of the fine associated with one of the SWOs, if there are indeed 2 SWOs.
STOP WORK ORDER - ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTION/WORKING WITHOUT A PERMIT - APPLY 50% PENALTY ON PERMIT Applied via Script
SWO ISSUED FOR EXCEEDING THE SCOPE OF BUILDING PERMITS IN REVIEW.
Any idea who is handling her construction?
Consider support for conservation districts, my neighbors. If that were in exisitence, this would have had to have been reviewed by preservation staff, regardless of whether it would have been a pop-up or not.. building material use..design .. etc.. may all have been factors to consider. I'm just saying...
Also, poor neighbors to the left and right of that renovation. Sad to see incompetent builders attempting renovation of these structures which have been in existence for 100 years and supported families. I agree it is time for renovating some or most of them but that doesn't mean it has to be done to the detriment of the existing structure and the neighborhood's character. All the poor workmanship that is being done or proposed to be done would not be able to last 20 years before falling apart. As we can see.
My husband and I bought from this developer (JBA Development LLC, Principal: Insun Hofgard. She also operates under various other LLCs in DC.) last year. We have discovered significant code and construction issues. After about 9 month of living there we still do not have an occupancy permit as there was never a final inspection by DC or a DCRA approved third party. If anyone would like to discuss further please email me at p.si@juno.com.
