Subject: Announscing this year's Sustainable DC Ambassador program
          Dear Ward 5 Commissioners:

As you may know, SUSTAINABLE DC is the mayor’s plan to build healthier, greener, and more livable communities for residents in all eight wards. And with all the great progress these past few years, we are now excited to announce the launch of our 2015 Ambassador program. We’re looking to build a team of dedicated community volunteers to help spread the word about how this initiative can work for them. Some of the topics we are directly engaging residents on include:

  •  Reducing household energy costs through energy-saving appliances
  •  Providing affordable and reliable transportation systems
  •  Ensuring access to healthier food choices
  • Encouraging healthy, active lifestyles
  •  Keeping our rivers and parks clean and beautiful
  • And much more…

We had incredible success reaching out to communities with our cohort last year and are looking to build upon past work. Ambassadors can expect to attend community events such as ANC meetings, festivals, block parties, farmers markets and more, where they will share information on how Sustainable DC can benefit residents now and for generations to come. They will talk with friends, neighbors, and local business owners on what it means for families in the District and how they can get involved.

We want to ensure Ward 5 is well represented, so please share this announcement with your constituents at your next meeting. The program will run from May through October this year and we ask that Ambassadors be able to commit to at least one public event each month.
APPLY TODAY!  The application period will close on May 11th.
We look forward to staying active in your communities and welcome any feedback you have. For more information, check out our website at http://www.sustainabledc.org/get-involved/. If you have any questions or would like to suggest an event for Ambassadors to attend, please send an email to sustainable.future@dc.gov.
All the best in our shared future,
 The Sustainable DC team
