Statehood
On Tuesday, October 18, 2016, the DC Council approved Mayor Bowser's proposed constitution with the following major changes:
* Remove the
name New Columbia and replace it with State of Washington, DC as the name for
the 51st state. The new name would represent Douglas Commonwealth, in
celebration of DC resident and abolitionist, Frederick Douglas.
* Require a
constitutional convention with elected delegates held two years after statehood
becomes official. All changes would bypass lawmakers and go directly to voters
for approval.

Development had some issues getting out of the ground, namely, sandy soils in
some areas and boulders as large as a desk in others, that stymied construction
progress. They believe the issues have been solved. Once they are assured of
their timing, which is far easier to estimate once concrete is at first floor
deck, they will issue a revised production schedule and estimated delivery.
