McMillan Site's New Park Rendering Is All About Sand Towers In A Fountain
Those ivy-covered cylinders you see here? Expect them to be play the lilypad role in the fountains of the 6.2 acre park planned for the McMillan Sand Filtration site. New renderings show the pieces of industry towering over the walkways and trees. What say you, Curbed readers? Kind of zen, or kind of too much concrete? Leave us a comment.

I refer you to the comments made just below in the previous posting....
In summary: too much concrete, not enough brick
Not a creative use of the spaces...think farmers markets, biergartens, community vegetable gardens, cafes, or even scultpture, art installations. Should be a natural part of the larger park space...as it is now, it's a corridor for traversing the park. It could otherwise be a nice addition to the park instead of a giant cement runway.
The silo surrounded by water - that is a drawing, an idea, a possible element. At HPRB, VMP said as much. Love it or hate it, it is not an element upon which to base your opinion of the plan.
I hope that everyone looks at all of their submission, and not just a couple of colorful sketches.
"Blooingdale resident", if that is really who you are, how do you feel about the fact that we MUST pay our taxes, then our tax dollars handed over to VMP for propaganda purposes? Isn't it fair to judge VMP for how they use taxpayer dollars?
