Work begins on Costa Brava, new offices for Xinhua News Agency

1837 First St. NW: Conversion to restaurant on the first and second floors of this Bloomingdale building with 46 seats indoors and 14 more outdoors. Work will include installation of new toilets and sinks on both floors, and kitchen equipment on the first floor only. The restaurant, featuring tapas and other Mediterranean-inspired dishes, will be called Costa Brava. Its tagline: "Barcelona meets DC Lounge." The last update on the eatery's Facebook page came Nov. 6, "Working hard on permits. Should be soon. Fingers crossed."
