DC Water: No Parking Signs 1st and W Street NW‏ -- Installing a Level Sensor Underground

Good Evening All,

Thank you for attending the DC Clean Rivers First Street Tunnel Public Information Meeting on January 14th.  During the meeting one of the participants asked a question about No Parking signs posted on First and W Streets. We looked into the situation and would like to share with you what we learned:

DC Water’s McMillan Storage Project  “Contractors will be working to install a level sensor underground at the northwest court of First St NW and W Street NW.  The contractor will enter the manhole to install the sensor and will excavate to install a conduit in the roadway.  The sensors will work together (one on North Capitol) to measure flow levels in the pipes.

Parking signs were placed on Monday, January 13, 2014 for work to begin tomorrow for an estimated duration of 2 days.  Construction hours are 9:30a.m. to 3:30p.m.”

I’ve copied Tijuana Haynes the Public Outreach person for the McMillan Storage Project.

Hope this helps!

Sincere Regards,
