Loosen Your Belts: D.C. Meat Week Has Begun


Can you smell the smoked pork in the air? D.C. Meat Week is upon us again, with daily events showcasing some of the city’s best barbecue. The festivities kicked off yesterday, but tonight, head to Hill Country Barbecue's downstairs dining room for an all-you-can-eat evening. The $25 feast will include platters of brisket, pork spare ribs, chicken, plus sides like skillet cornbread and cheddar mac and cheese.

Tuesday, Jan. 28
Bloomingdale’s Showtime Lounge officially launches its new delivery partnership with DCity Smokehouse with specials like pit-smoke wings, the Meaty Palmer sandwich, or a barbecue sampler platter.


                      
Wednesday, Jan 29
Pork Barrel BBQ in Del Rey will offer a barbecue sampler consisting of a quarter-pound of pulled pork, a quarter-pound of brisket, burnt ends, a Texas beef sausage link, two spare ribs, cornbread, and a choice of two sides for $23.95. A portion of the proceeds will go to Operation BBQ Relief, a nonprofit aimed at helping victims of the 2011 tornado that devastated Joplin, Mo. Pork Barrel BBQ  will also host an eating competition. Get the details here.
              
Thursday, Jan. 30
Bethesda’s Smoke BBQ will offer a Meat Week sampler platter including pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, cornbread, cole slaw, and a side dish for $16.99 or a quarter rack of ribs with cornbread, slaw, and a side for $12.99.
                             
Friday, Jan. 31
Food truck operators of BBQ BusCarnivore, BBQCurley’s QHardy’s BBQ, and Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company will face off at LivingSocial’s event space at 918 F St. NW to see whose barbecue reigns supreme. The event will also include butchering demos from Wagshal’s, sauce sampling from Pork Barrel BBQ, and more. The $49 admission price gets you 15 food samples (a beef, pork, and side dish from each of the trucks), a PBR tallboy, and access to all the demos.
                                                
Saturday, Feb. 1
Mr. P’s Ribs will offer spare ribs from its new truck beginning at noon at 6th Street and Rhode Island Avenue NW.
