Neighbors,

Given the recent increase in break-ins and burglaries in our neighborhood, I thought it would be a good time to just remind you that the reports we get at ADT from our area police dept's are still advising us that many to most break-ins and burglaries, including those recently reported in Bloomingdale, are occurring through OPEN or UNLOCKED doors and windows. So please remember:

1- Lock all doors and windows in rooms where there will be no one present for extended periods of time, especially on basement and 1st floor levels.

2- When you are leaving for the day, or going to bed at night and wish to keep upper floor windows open, make sure those windows cannot be accessed from outside with a relatively easy climb or without a ladder. If you must keep a ladder outside, make sure it is securely tied or locked down.

3- If you have a home security system, remember to arm it, EVEN WHEN YOU ARE HOME. ADT and all reputable security companies have settings that allow you to arm your system without the motion detection, so that you and your family can move freely throughout your home without setting off your alarm, while at the same time, not leaving you completely vulnerable to undetected break-ins.

Please keep these things in mind and continue to have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!

***The newest ADT Promotion is FREE ACTIVATION and INSTALLATION on a new, wireless, ADT alarm system, until May 30th. The promotional flier is attached. Please contact me at 301-758-4766 if you'd like further details or wish to discuss any of the above safety tips.
