Dear Jim, Jack, and Councilmember McDuffie,
Good news on the Heritage Trail guidebooks!
At the end of April, DDOT issued an RFQ for production of the Heritage Trail guidebooks for Logan Circle, LeDroit Park/Bloomingdale, and Anacostia.
Cultural Tourism DC responded with a quotation, and that quotation has been accepted pending a final discussion with DDOT.
This is a moment to thank everyone for helping correct the inequity in the DC Neighborhood Heritage Trails program by ensuring that these communities, like the others before them, benefit from the public distribution of this important neighborhood historical information. Geared to the community and to tourists alike, and developed with the participation of the communities, the free Heritage Trail guidebooks help direct visitors to the neighborhoods and inside their businesses and institutions. They also serve as an educational tool.
Once Cultural Tourism DC meets with DDOT, I will report back on the remaining details, including the funding status.
But for now, as we contemplate a beautiful weekend, please accept the gratitude of our community working groups and Cultural Tourism DC for your support and positive efforts!
Best,
Jane
