DC’S HISTORIC 19TH CENTURY FIREHOUSE-TURNED-EVENT SPACE AND RESTAURANT, CELEBRATES ITS ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND BUILDING’S 120-YEAR HISTORY

WASHINGTON, DC – Once the home to generations of firefighters and DC’s Engine Company 12, the iconic Bloomingdale firehouse is preparing to celebrate a different milestone this year. One year ago, the spacious building was transformed into Old Engine 12 Restaurant and Event Space, a contemporary American restaurant and special events destination. On Wednesday, November 4th from 6:00 to 9:00pm, Old Engine 12 Restaurant will be celebrating its first birthday at the “Old Engine Turns One” One Year Anniversary Party. The building and its original structure, still largely preserved, will also be commemorating its 120-year old history.

To help mark the firehouse’s milestones, guests are invited to take part in a fun-filled celebration that will include complimentary passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktail tastings from the exclusive new fall dinner menu. The venue will be transformed into a playground furnished with photo booths (fireman-themed props), raffles, games, prizes and more.

Old Engine 12 has partnered with both the DC Fire Department and DC Firefighters Association (IAFF Local 36) to raise awareness and funds for the Coats for Kids Foundation; a non-profit which distributes winter coats, gloves, hats and scarves to children in need yearly. All proceeds from raffle ticket sales, $1.00 from every specialty drink purchased, and $5.00 from every DCFD T-Shirt will be donated to the charity (open donations are also welcomed). Throughout the celebration, additional beer selections will be half-priced, alongside discounted cocktails to support fundraising.

The three-story restaurant and venue has quickly become a neighborhood favorite for its thoughtfully infused comfort foods and equally warm interior; contemporary design and original firehouse décor, all wrapped in century-old exposed brick. With the upcoming one year anniversary event, invited guests will have the opportunity to experience the best of what Old Engine 12 has to offer; an ideal setting for appetizers and cocktails, dinners and private functions.

We've eaten here three times already and liked the food, the service and especially the ambiance as I remember when it was a fire station!! Very glad they are doing some charitable work too and I will be sure to donate!
